How to reset iPhone to factory settings [Both jailbroken and non jailbroken devices]

Here’s a simple tutorial on How to reset iPhone to
factory settings? Factory reset is needed when your iPhone or any other
iDevices crashes or freezes while using any applications or if you going to
sell or passing it to your friend or family. It’s very important to wipe your
all necessary and sensitive data (photos, messages, videos, notes, passwords, emails and all other stuffs)
stored on it so that no one can steal your identity and access your personal
informations.

It’s very simple; follow these steps to reset your
iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Scroll down to
bottom

Step 2: Tap on Reset and select Erase All Content and
Settings.

Step 3:You will be asked to enter your passcode.

Step 4:Enter your passcode you’ve set.

Step 5:After you have enetered your passcode, pop up box
will appear.

Step 6:Tap on Erase iPhone.

Note: Enter your Apple ID password to confirm the
action if needed.

Step 7: Now your iPhone will begin to wipe all of your data
with the progress bar.

Once it restarts you will see the initial white
setup screen. Set up your iPhone and you will see the homescreen.

That’s it. You’ve successfully reset your iPhone to
factory settings.

Note: The process is same for iPad and iPod touch
running any version of iOS. And don’t try this method if you are jailbroken.

How to reset iPhone if you are jailbroken?

If you feel your device is little bugy and crashing
all the time or you might be going to sell to someone and you need to reset all
content and settings to clean up of your device. Remember, resetting jailbroken
iPhone is impossible because when you try to reset your iPhone or other
iDevices it will stuck in Apple logo screen and will force to restore to the
latest version of iOS which will lose your jailbreak as well. So, I have some
tips regarding resetting your jailbroken iPhone which may help you a lot.

Step 1: Remove Cydia Substrate from Cydia which will
forcely removes all your cydia tweaks.

Removing Cydia Substrate is the best solution to fix
your bug, crashing and even makes your device runs smoothly.

Step 2: Remove your contacts, Email Accounts
including iCloud, Messages, Notes, and Photos.

Step 3: Remove all applications and its data.

Go to Settings> General> Storage & iCloud
Usage> Manage Storage

Tap any app one by one to delete app and its all
data which is occupying a lot of space on your device.

Step 4: Reset all settings only, reset homescreen
layout, reset location & privacy, network settings.

Note: Donot go through Erase all content and settings

That’s it. You are done. You have successfully reset
your jailbroken iPhone. Now you have fixed all bugs and free up space almost in clean state.
