As the software brings a dedicated App Store to the wearable, Apple Watch is becoming a more independent device with watchOS 6. Continue downloading apps directly from Apple Watch.
With watchOS 5 and earlier, Apple Watch required users to download apps from iPhone to the wearable. Now watchOS 6 brings to Apple Watch for the first time a dedicated App Store that makes it seamless to browse and download apps right from your wrist.
Note: watchOS 6 is currently available only as a beta developer and will be available in the fall to the public.
How To Directly Download Apps On Apple Watch Running watchOS 6
- Make sure your Apple Watch is connected to the WiFi
- Press the Digital Crown on Apple Watch and Tap App Store
- Look for the apps you want to download
- Tap Get and done!
If this is the first time you’re downloading an app on your watch, you may be asked to enter your password for the Apple ID. The easiest way to do this is probably to use the keyboard of your iPhone. Tap on your watch’s keyboard icon to do that.
