Just like iPhone, your Apple Watch can also connect to WiFi and do things like accessing Siri to get directions, send and receive iMessage, check weather, track stock, control your Home and use almost any app that supports WiFi.
There might be a situation where your iPhone is switched off our out of range – in such case your Apple Watch can connect to WiFi network that you have previously connected on your iPhone and use internet on your Apple Watch.
However, connecting WiFi on Apple Watch differs from iPhone as you can not directly connect to WiFi by selecting WiFi network on Apple Watch. For that, first your iPhone needs to be connected to WiFi & then you can turn it off later on your iPhone & WiFi will be still connected on Apple Watch.

On your iPhone, Go go Setting – WiFi – Select WiFi that is connected – Tap Forget This Network

Launch Control Center on your Apple Watch Series 3 – Tap the
