How to Start Picture-in-Picture Video mode on macOS High Sierra using Safari
macOS High Sierra’s Picture-in-Picture video mode supports Safari web browser only if your site supports PiP. If not, it won’t allow Picture-in-Picture mode on macOS High Sierra.
Step 1. To start Picture in Picture, Launch Safari or iTunes on your Mac running macOS High Sierra that supports Picture-in-Picture mode (PiP).
Note: Safari supports Picture in Picture with webpages that use HTML5 for video playback, such as YouTube and Vimeo.
Step 4. When playing video, click on the PiP (Picture-in-Picture) icon in the video’s playback controls as in the screenshot below;
Voila!! Your video will now detach and see a small video window appear in a corner of your screen. If you can’t see PiP icon you will not able to play video in PiP mode.
How To Stop Picture in Picture video mode on macOS Sierra & High Sierra
To disable Picture in Picture video mode on macOS Sierra & High Sierra, simply follow below steps;
- Click or in the Picture-in-Picture window.
- Or close the original window or browser tab that is providing the video.
How to Move or resize the Picture-in-Picture window
You can also move or resize the PiP window as you like;
- Just drag the PiP window to move it to a different corner of the Mac screen. If you hold down the Command key while dragging, you can move the window to any position on the screen.

- To make the PiP (Picture-in-Picture) window bigger or smaller, drag the edge or corner of the window.
