In early 2019, Facebook wanted to merge Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp ‘s underlying platform into one. The company took the first step in this process over a year later. Instagram users are welcomed on the “New Way to Message on Instagram” update screen of the U.S.
The page shows some of the new features, like reacting with emoji, responding to messages, the new chat look, and chatting with your friends on Facebook. The DM icon in the Instagram app is replaced by the Messenger icon by tapping an update button. Despite the update page claim that the option for message people on Facebook has still not been implemented. This is clearly the first step from Facebook, however, in unifying all of its messaging services and allowing users to interact across platforms.
